MASQUE is an animation based on a dream made by using only typography and sound. The project explores the relation between text & symbol and its relation to perception, understanding and imagination. An important part was the deconstruction of language and its reconstruction by arranging the isolated elements by animating their movements on the screen into a time based sequence.
By refusing the realistic image the project could be seen on the one hand as an anti-film as it subverts cinematographic expectations, but on the other hand it offers a subjective moving image unique to each audience member.
